Tom Ford, real name Thomas Carlyle Ford, is an American fashion designer and film director. Tom Ford gained fame in the fashion industry by turning around the Gucci brand in the 1990s. Ford was hired as the women's ready to wear designer in 1990 and eventually worked his way up to design director two years later. He also worked at Perry Ellis before starting his own label in 2004.

Tom Ford suits have gained acclaim in recent years. Daniel Craig wore bespoke Tom Ford suits, cardigans and coats as James Bond in "Quantum of Solace". The next Bond flick, Skyfall is also supposed to feature clothing from Tom Ford. Other celebrities to wear Tom Ford suits include Brad Pitt and tennis star Roger Federer.

Issey Miyake is a Japanese fashion designer who is famous for his technology driven styles. Miyake is perhaps best known for designing and producing the signature black turtlenecks worn by the late Steve Jobs of Apple. Issey Miyake suits can be somewhat unconventional such as the corduroy suit pictured above.

Miyake is known for using bright colors and stripes or other vertical patterns. Alternatively, he likes to use all black with different cuts than most traditional suit makers.

Turnbull & Asser was opened in London in 1885 by Reginald Turnbull and Ernest Asser. Today, they also have boutique shops in Beverly Hills, New York City and a new store in Moscow. The company was purchased by Harrods in 1986. In 2010, they began selling custom shirts online.

Turnbull & Asser suits have been worn by Prince Charles, Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, George Bush and John Kerry. They are known for their extremely traditional suits but also for using bright colors in their shirts, socks and ties.

Bottega Veneta is an Italian luxury brand best known for their leather goods but which also produces high end suits. The company was founded in 1966 and was bought out by Gucci in 2001. They are headquarted in Vincenza.

The brand grew to popularity by producing understated pieces that appealed to people because they featured a discreet, no logo design. After their acquisition by Gucci, Bottega Veneta expanded their line to include furniture, jewelry and fragrance although leather and suits are still their core business.

A typically Kiton suit takes 25 hours to craft and is created by 45 tailors working together. The K-50, Kiton's most expensive suit, takes 50 hours to produce and costs up to $50,000.
