Canali is another high end fashion house in Italy. Canali was founded in 1934 by two brothers, Giovanni and Giacomo Canali. They began as a tailoring workshop dedicated to the manufacture of high quality clothing. During the 1950's, sales began to increase as the 2nd generation of Canali's entered the business. As the firm specialized in fine menswear, its presence began to influence the Italian market. By the mid 1970s, the firm had opened its doors to foreign buyers. Exports accounted for half of Canali's business by 1980.
Although Canali suits are the main product of the company, they have recently expanded their offerings. The range of Canali products has broadened with the launch of the Canali Proposta and Canali Exclusive lines, as well as expanding to offer accessories, including a collection of shirts, ties, belts, shoes and the distinctive line of Canali Sportswear. Now in its third generation, Canali constitutes a design and manufacturing group, with seven centers of production located in Italy - all connected with its headquarters at Sovico. Each garment is tailored and produced in Italy.
Today, 75% of the total production is exported. 1400 Canali suits are manufactured daily, with 1600 pairs of trousers made daily.
